{"id":114,"date":"2010-01-01T20:18:08","date_gmt":"2010-01-02T03:18:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.gratuitousscience.com\/?p=114"},"modified":"2021-05-23T13:27:54","modified_gmt":"2021-05-23T19:27:54","slug":"the-robots-of-love-one-year-later","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.gratuitousscience.com\/?p=114","title":{"rendered":"&#8220;The Robots of Love&#8221; &#8211; one year later"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It was 1 year ago today that I uploaded my comic &#8220;The Robots of Love&#8221; to FembotWiki.\u00a0 And it was just over a year ago that I finished it.\u00a0 My final lettering and final addition of &#8220;LEDs&#8221; to the faceoff scenes occurred just 30 minutes before 2009 started.<\/p>\n<p>Of course, I can&#8217;t take credit for the whole thing.\u00a0 The amount of work I did on it is minuscule compared to what the artist &#8220;Predator&#8221; and the colourist Simon Wright did.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.gratuitousscience.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/01\/The_Robots_of_Love_-_00.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-115\" title=\"The_Robots_of_Love_-_00\" src=\"http:\/\/www.gratuitousscience.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/01\/The_Robots_of_Love_-_00-212x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"212\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.gratuitousscience.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/01\/The_Robots_of_Love_-_00-212x300.jpg 212w, http:\/\/www.gratuitousscience.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/01\/The_Robots_of_Love_-_00-723x1024.jpg 723w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 212px) 100vw, 212px\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nMy part was only to pay for the work, supply the script for Predator, and do the lettering.\u00a0 I think I did a good enough job to do the work of the other two artists justice.\u00a0 Looking at the whole thing again just makes me tremendously happy.<\/p>\n<p>I only wish I could have made it longer.\u00a0 This was a very expensive project, but any commissioned comic is expensive if it&#8217;s done by professionals.\u00a0 And I don&#8217;t regret spending a single cent.\u00a0 &#8220;The Robots of Love&#8221; is by far my favorite ASFR work.\u00a0 I&#8217;m only more proud of the novel-length series of stories I wrote earlier.\u00a0 I see that more of a personal accomplishment than as something incredibly sexy to enjoy.<\/p>\n<p>The comic is, on the other hand instantly gratifying.\u00a0 Especially page 12. :P<\/p>\n<p>I was hoping that there would be more fembot-themed comic art work finding its way into the ASFR community.\u00a0 I think there was talk about people pooling resources to commission a similar work, but as is so often the case, nothing materialized.<\/p>\n<p>2010 is a new year though, and I still hope that there will be more fembots, more circuitry, and more ASFR in comic form in this year and the years to come.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It was 1 year ago today that I uploaded my comic &#8220;The Robots of Love&#8221; to FembotWiki.\u00a0 And it was just over a year ago that I finished it.\u00a0 My final lettering and final addition of &#8220;LEDs&#8221; to the faceoff scenes occurred just 30 minutes before 2009 started.
