Fuck, this song is SWEEEEEEET.\u00a0 It’s probably the most aggressively progressive and intentionally undanceable song they ever did.\u00a0 And it fucking RULES.\u00a0 Okay, bits of my old high school self are coming to the fore again.<\/p>\n

You see, all I ever listened to in high school was Rush.\u00a0 And other things.\u00a0 And I’m not so good at making statements that are consistent with one another.\u00a0 Should high school be capitalized?\u00a0 Should capitalized be spelled as capitalised?\u00a0 I am in Canada, you know.\u00a0 And if you didn’t, you know now.<\/p>\n

My blog posts are kind of like black holes, you know.\u00a0 You know lots, but shut up, I’m talking.\u00a0 Ahem.\u00a0 Yes, like black holes they are.\u00a0 They attract you with something akin to gravity.\u00a0 Then they kill you with the very same force!\u00a0 Ha!\u00a0 HA HA HA HA HA HA HA!!!!!!<\/p>\n

So anyway, my posts are like black holes.\u00a0 They kind of aren’t, but I really don’t have anything interesting to say.\u00a0 Sorry about that, but my life just isn’t interesting.\u00a0 I wake up, go to work, work, come back from work, and go to sleep.\u00a0 Sometimes I have phone sex, which makes me smile for a couple of days.\u00a0 On Wednesdays I go shopping, and have buttered scones for tea.<\/p>\n

So it’s like gravity that sucks you in.\u00a0 This force.\u00a0 You see.\u00a0 Actually, it doesn’t suck you in so much as it just sucks.\u00a0 Have you read any of this crap I post on my blog?\u00a0 It’s terrible!\u00a0 I should be so ashamed of all this garbage, but for some reason, I’m not.<\/p>\n

\nMaybe I ‘ll surprise (surprize?) the hell out of you and talk about the song.\u00a0 When I was an obsessive teenager, I listened to all my Rush albums like a good little boy and tried to listen for an instance where Geddy Lee sings higher than he does in this song.\u00a0 Right where he sings:<\/p>\n

“Spinning, whirling, still descending
\nLike a spiral SEA UNENDING!!!”<\/em><\/p>\n

and<\/p>\n

“Sound and fury drown my heart
\nEvery nerve is TORN APAAAAAART!!!!”<\/em><\/p>\n

And nope, he doesn’t.\u00a0 I’m pretty sure there was some blood coughing done that night he recorded this.\u00a0 Probably not actually.\u00a0 I’m not an authority on much so you shouldn’t take too much of what I say seriously.<\/p>\n

So, in this song, Gedddy is singing about how my blog seems at first whimsical, and maybe even interesting.\u00a0 And then – before you realize it’s too late – you’re in way too deep and you’re looking at stupid pictures I found on Google and reading the most idiotic of jokes… the kind a 3rd grader would find pedestrian.<\/p>\n
