I just read a Wikipedia article about what this song<\/a> is about.\u00a0 I can take that or leave it I guess.\u00a0 To me, this song is about oppression.\u00a0 I can hear “Who’ll stop the reign” in that chorus too.\u00a0 That’s one of the reasons I like this song.\u00a0 It can be interpreted in different ways.<\/p>\n

John Fogerty wrote this just after he had attended Woodstock.\u00a0 That explains the part about the crowd cheering for more and getting rained on.\u00a0 The hippies were complaining about some pretty important issues.\u00a0 Their solution was to smoke lots of dope and do lots of drugs… so things didn’t work out too good.\u00a0 And we have all of those same issues to deal with today.<\/p>\n

Thanks for nothing, hippies.<\/p>\n

Actually, the years and decades before the late 60s compared to the years and decades after the 60s are a lot better in the Western world in some ways.\u00a0 I guess all those smelly stoners rattled things up a bit in a good way.<\/p>\n

This is one of those songs that gives me chills down my spine when I hear it.\u00a0 It happens when Mr. Fogerty sings the line “Five-Year Plans and New Deals… wrapped in golden chains…”<\/p>\n

Damn.\u00a0 Great tune.<\/p>\n

So why am I not all full of jokes today?\u00a0 I’m tired.\u00a0 It’s Friday and I worked all week.\u00a0 I can’t even muster the energy to insert a funny or interesting image into this post.<\/p>\n
