Song of the Day: “Another Night” by Camel

Not a lot of people have even heard of Camel, and that’s a shame because they were a great band for most of the 70s.  They were a great band through the 90s too, even with only one original member remaining.  Let’s not speak of the 80s.

I’ve had a busy day today, so this is a song that I didn’t actually listen to on this day.  I have had it in my head on and off as I continued to set up that computer I mentioned yesterday.  It takes a surprisingly long time to install an OS 3 times and install all the software and customizations I think make a computer more usable.

This puppy is going to dual-boot with either Windows XP or Ubuntu, and inside Ubuntu it will run Windows XP via VirtualBox.  Best of all worlds, I say.

So yeah… a lot of installing and stuff.  This song is from an album called “Moonmadness”, released in 1976.  It was Camel’s last “great” album released in the 70s, and the last to feaqture the original lineup.  That’s not a coincidence.

The drumming here is amazing… not only by its precision and the level of skill shown, but by how it helps set up the mood and feel of the song.  Very good listening.

Fuck I’m too tired to say much more.  It’s way past my bedtime and I still have to finish a load of laundry in the dryer.  Meh.

I’ll have more interesting things to say tomorrow.  Tomorrow is also FembotWiki update day, so be sure to check it out then.
