Song of the Day: “Cut the Mullet” by Wesley Willis

Because I’m installing Windows XP and Ubuntu (for dual-booting) on a friend’s new computer for them, I don’t have a lot of time to write about this song today… which is okay because there’s not much to say about it.  Its structure is simple.  Its message even simpler.

You gotta love Wesley Willis, rest in peace.  He was a man who could make us all smile and laugh, and this is one of his best.  It’s right up there with “Suck a Cheetah’s Dick”, “They Threw Me Out of Church” and “Rock and Roll MacDonald’s”.

On this one, Wesley gets funky with a kind of vocoder effect overdubbed on his voice.  He also gets quite jazzy and downright – dare I say – improvisational with the Casio keyboard demo chord changes during the instrumental break.

Rock over London, rock on Chicago indeed.
